Fresh Format of External HDD

I did a fresh format of my 200GB external HDD, Partitioned it to approx 100GB & 90GB.
Here is my question should the used space before any use be 65MB on each partition.Then I partitioned the 90 to 20GB & 70GB, both of these also show approx 65MB used.
I thought only 8MB should be used on each. (malware?)

 

MB=MegaBytes.... if you're worried over 65mb on 90gb partition, why? 65mb is nothing and if it really bothers you, it's probably holding some type of info for Windows. If you need to know the nitty-gritty, try this:

I am only concerned because I may have had a MBR virus recently.
Long & short, please view my threads its the easiest way to explain my concern.

Fair enough.... besides, it's your PC, and you have every right to be worried about even 1kb that doesn't seem right to you

I just started using disk investigator this morning.

Install 200GB External HDD as Master alone in desktop.
Removed partitions with xp CD, restart Hard.
start Format remove xp CD.
Turn off when finished.
Place back into External case attached by USB to laptop shows 0 bits used.
Format required by laptop for use.

All said and done, 200GB Maxtor HDD formatted as one drive shows 70.3MB used.
Information is power, now we all know.
