Default 24" Imac harddrive bad. No recovery disk. What to do?

My daughter's Imac went dud when her hard drive went bad. I can replace it, but I don[t have a copy of 10.6.8 snow leopard. My son bought this originally, gave it to me, and then I gave it to my daughter. It's a nice intel setup and I would like to get it running, and I heard you can install windows on it if you have bootcamp. Where do you get bootcamp?

Bootcamp is an app that runs inside of osx, to install duel booting, you should be able to just install windows off a cd like you would on a normal pc if you want to just have windows on it.

I was considering that, but I have heard that in order to run some of the hardware that I would have to use Bootcamp to restore the drivers for the cute wireless keyboard and mouse.

You can find the drivers separately. Try mac.majorgeeks.com and search for bootcamp, might have what you need for drivers.

You could always pick a retail copy of snow leopard or lion up on ebay.

Avoid buying an OEM disc, unless you can find the exact one that came with your model computer. Apples restore discs only work with specific models.
