Internet Explorer Scripts Not Running

Gone through malware on here and all is ok, but Internet Explorer is playing up.

Here is what isn't working:

* The font editing buttons when you make a post
* The verify java button when you try to verify java
* The download chrome button when you go to download chrome

Etc.

I've tried looking in the advanced settings in Internet Explorer and in security checked the scripting. I've uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 and reinstalled it. I've reset it manually, I've used the fix it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Java.

I'm quite stumped.

Usually with these things, it turns out to be something obvious, but I can't figure out what it is.

Any ideas?

 

Okay, I uninstalled Internet Explorer 11 *AND* Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 9 is working properly. I'll reinstall 10 and 11 and see how it goes.

I have resolved this issue now.

When I tried to install IE10 again, the install failed due to a dependency on another update. I've had this before and it's meant trawling the Windows Update log and trying to map the id given {xxx-nnn-yyyyyyyyyy-...} in there to a KBnnnnnn formatted one.

Fortunately the system readiness tool identified a missing update (KB947821) and installed that.

Then IE10 was able to be reinstalled - with JavaScript working fine. I was able to patch it and then upgrade to IE11 (all through Windows Update) with IE11 now working fine and dandy.

So I hope that this helps someone out. I can only speculate that IE10 managed to install without this dependency or that it was somehow uninstalled along the way, ripping the floor out from under Internet Explorer.
