Hi.. First - If I'm WAY behind the times and this has been asked before, please direct me to the thread & I'll go from there :-o

Have been getting this flashing message...
"This content requires Media Player 12.2 Update”
on my browser screens and assumed it was an ad of some sort. Then it was getting too irritating and did the dumb thing and clicked it. Knew right away was a mistake and closed browser tab, but just didn't think about it again for a few days.

It's still there and today I Googled the message and came up with several posts [from earlier this year] saying malware, may cause changes on computer, infection, hijacking, etc, etc. I come here before I do anything because I've ALWAYS gotten the most relevant advice from MajorGeeks, bar none!
    :) Thank you for that.

One of them said to run Malware Anti-Malwarebytes, then follow it up with HitMan Pro.

    Bottom line ...
    HELP - and thanks again!

    Oops... forgot to tell you:
    I'm on a Toshiba laptop; Windows 8; 64 bit
I run Kaspersky Internet Security & it's up-to-date [supposedly]; with a scheduled full scan weekly

Please let me know what else I can add.
I do have Tweaking.com and can send a system information if you need it.

    Thx again.

    Thanks,
    Just to let you know...
I've followed all the instructions to the letter. The computer backup took longer than expected because I've recently moved and couldn't find my external backup drive so did a backup on CD's ... and my the cheap plastic on my CD drive broke in the middle of it.. grrr.

Anyway - The first fix, Malwarebytes, found malware. The second was clear. But ran everything. So I'm doing the "wait a few days to seer if everything's fine" test right now before any unnecessary posting & attaching.

    Thanks! :)
