I'm trying to figure out what this "AMD Catalyst Control Center" on my system is all about. From what I'm finding online, it's supposed to have something to do with my video card but most of what I'm reading mentions an AMD (ATI) graphics card which confuses me in that my card is an NVIDIA card!

I do have an AMD CPU but that is all. Do I need this Catalyst Control Center or can I uninstall it?

I've also noticed in my "Reliability Monitor" several "Critical Events" this month stating, "Catalyst Control Center: Host Application............stopped working"

I did try to open the program from the menu list but I get a popup window saying, "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center"

So what is this software and do I need it?

Suggestion - image your system and then remove CCC. If you experience any problems then restore your image. With NVidia you may be OK removing it, but you need the insurance of an image.
