    MS XP
    ABit KV7 motherboard

I have just installed FX5200 Graphics card - no problem
Fitted 250gb external drive - no apparent problem
I also geared up more RAM, moving from 512Mb to 3Gb using all 3 RAM slots.

Experiencing regular problem when moving on-line. Computer restarts.

Really came to the fore when Norton played up and I reinstalled. Live update revealed the first problem, crashing during the update session. Seems to have settled now.

Error message: Recovering from serious problem

Try something other than Norton. I've had problems with Norton which were solved using AVG anti virus and Zone alarm firewall.

    Thanks Dins.

I did just that: uninstalled bloody Norton and downloaded the 2 progs. you suggested.

Unfortunately the fault persists. MS auto diagnosis got back and suggested it is a RAM issue. What can I do ?

I see that in Devices Manager the only 'yellowed' icon is something called SYMTDI

Go to C:/Windows/dump/ and look for the dump file from the last crash (check the dates). Post it here.

The Windows file is in F on my machine. It contains 1 dump file DUMP47d6.tmp which I can't open to copy to you.
There is also a minidump folder containing 22 files Mini041707-01.dmp

This is getting a bit beyond me: help much appreciated.

    Can't see your code.

    Click this button:

Then click this button from the wysiwyg editor:

Enter the code between those tags

Sorry: I am a bit of a nerd in matters like this ! Bear with me please.

1: the .tmp files in Dump are now opening up in Notepad, but are all in 'non-English' symbols and rubbish. How can I open them up so that the contents are legible ?

2: In replying, using #, do I cut and paste the dump file content between the brackets provided, or do I insert the entire file. If the latter, how do I do that ?

    Thanks for your patience.

    Bill
