No sound on .mov file in Win 8.1 Pro

    I am trying to play a .mov file on my Win 8.1 Pro PC. I have tried with VLC player and Quicktime. I get a good image, but no sound. Any ideas?

    Also, I would like to trim this .mov file....any suggestions for a freeware program I could use for this purpose?
