Good Day All - A friend has forgotten her password to her Win XP Laptop. While still trying to jog her memory...I recall a method to get around the log on p/w for Win XP.
Does anyone know of a way to get around the log on p/w without reinstalling the OS?

    Thx,

There may be a way around if she has not set a password on the administrator account. Unfortunately, this is a step that SHOULD be taken. You can access the classic style login screen by hitting ctrl+alt+delete twice at a XP pro Welcome Screen. (Not sure if it works for XP home), or booting into safe mode. Type the user name administrator without a password, and you should be able to log in and change her user account password. IF there has been no administrative password set.

If there hasn't, set one once the problem is resolved! Malware often looks specifically for these types of accounts, and if found, could ruin the OS pretty easily.
