My computer takes up to 20 minutes to start up. When its ready i try to get on the internet and it takes 5 minutes for my home page to show up. I followed the guide to malware removal and the cleaning process. My computer has improved, less than 8 minutes for start up. And less than 2 minutes for my home page to show up. I will attach my logs from the scans. Could someone look over what i posted and let me know if there is anything else wrong with my computer.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Your problem is not malware, it is lack of an adequate amount of memory to properly run the Windows XP SP3 and other applications you are trying to run. Your log shows:

    Total Physical Memory 512.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 78.46 MB

Your PC will always be very slow due to having only 78.46 MB available. You need to at least double your RAM to 1GB (i.e, 2 x 512 MB = 1 GB)

Is your copy of Spyware Doctor a paid copy or free trial?

Not to sound to stupid, but how do i double my ram? Is there any applications that i should delete? My copy of Spyware Doctor is a paid copy. Do i need Spyware Doctor on my computer? Thanks again for helping me!!

    You're welcome.

You have to determine from your PC specs how much RAM can be added and find out which type of memory devices are compatible and then purchase them and physically put them into your PC. You can get help with this in the Hardware Forum if you need it.

I cannot decide what you use and do not use. Every one has different needs. For example:
    • I would never install AIM and if I did, I still would not allow it to load at startup. I would only run it when I need it.
    • I would not install or use Google Toolbar
    • I would uninstall ALL of the JUNK that Dell put on your PC especially the stuff that is running when you boot up.
You can look at what you are running and decide for yourself what you don't need. Just uninstalling programs is not going to solve low memory problems. The programs that are running when you boot up are using memory. Then anything else that you run later (like your browser...etc) also use memory. Below is a list of a bunch of things you are loading at startup, you should investigate each of these and decide whether you really need them or not.

You need antispyware protection. You don't necessarily need Spyware Doctor. Does the version you purchased also include their antivirus program? If it does, then you would have two antivirus programs running because you also have Norton AV installed. Both Norton and Spyware Doctor can be quite resource hungry.
