First of all, I will give some background info. On Sunday, I apparently picked up some kind of fakealert-aq adware. I am pretty sure I have successfully deleted this from my system. I have used many antispyware/antivirus programs...McAfee, Window Defener, Pandascan, Malwarebytes anti-malware, Super anti-spyware, and Ccleaner. I originally had the blue screen with the fake message stating I had spyware detected. Again, this is sense deleted, as is the fake AntivirXP08 program.

However, since this occurred, whenever I use Google search and click on one of the results, the page appears to be going correctly but then it say Redirect then Jump and then goes to some other page. I have deleted cookies like crazy and ran every thing I know to run. I have attached the results from the Fixwareout below. I also added the report that I received from running Malwarebytes today.

    Please help!

    Jennifer

I went through all of the steps in the Read me document and am still being redirected when going to google. I will attach my logs. Here are 3 of the 4.

Do I need to worry about paying bills online and stuff like that? Can the problem I am having lead to my personal info (credit card numbers, etc) getting hacked?

I cannot find the other log on my computer. I did run this scan, though.

It is right where the instructions say it will be and you just needed to use SAS to find them again.
    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\everett1\Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware\Logs\"
    supera~1.log Aug 10 2008 2377 "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 08-10-2008 - 20-18-24.log"
    supera~2.log Aug 10 2008 704 "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 08-10-2008 - 20-54-12.log"
    supera~3.log Aug 11 2008 562 "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 08-11-2008 - 19-25-14.log"
You were only supposed to run it once as requested in the READ ME. Please attach the first log from 08-10-2008 at 20-18-24

The same is true for Malwarebytes! You were only supposed to run it once. Please attach the first log which is:
    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\everett1\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\"
    mbam-l~1.txt Aug 10 2008 8298 "mbam-log-8-10-2008 (19-14-51).txt"

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines ( some of them may no longer exist ) but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Easy SpyRemover] C:\Program Files\Easy SpyRemover\EasySpyRemover.exe /smart
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKCU\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [yWjUEIE1ZM] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\gtqtgpyd\sjerofmf.exe
    O21 - SSODL: AppComDb - {1BFF2A7A-B2A7-4029-4874-01984DD7F341} - C:\Program Files\diwwsi\AppComDb.dll

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Thanks for the directions. I did not run across the READ ME instructions until after I had already ran the various antispyware programs. Sorry for the duplication. Also, I accidently skipped over the CCleaner step before running MGtools. I went back and ran the CCleaner and then ran the MGtools again to get an updated file. I have attached it, as well as the other logs you requested. I will add the 4th in a new post.

Thanks again! I am going to reboot my computer after posting these and then I will post again to let you knwo if the google thing is still happening. :)

After rebooting, it seems that google is back to normal. I searched for several different things and clicked on at least 3 links under each search results page. I will check back to see if I need to do anything else. I appreciate all of your help!

You're welcome. Your logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix if it is found.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    9. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
