Any ideas how to get better internet in the US?

I have joined all the net neutrality movements, written congressmen, and still only have one real provider for internet. Satellite is really not an option.

Did other countries go through this or is the US alone in its profit over progress attitude from the government?

Says some countries have subsidies. Also some of the cheapest in US are smaller towns with their own fiber installs. Mentions most of US has monopolies or what they called duopolies. At my house I can get dsl about $110 a month or Comcast about 129. I use wireless and pay as I go about 25. I could spend 45 but I may not have time to use it up in a month. So for casual use it's cheaper this way. But no high speed access.

 

Other countries have it easier too.

Dense populations in small areas make it a lot less expensive for infrastructure rollout.
