    How do you exit safe mode in Firefox?

    Googling brings up plenty saying how to get in it, but not how to leave it. I'm sure it's obvious, but I've just not been able to find it.

    before anyone asks, I have clicked on the icon that doesn;t say (safe mode) and it still comes up in what I thikn is safe mode. All my extensions and add-ons are gone, no bookmarks anymore etc. Also the sidebar on Konfabulator has gone...no icons to click on anymore...on my desktop.

    My husband was using the PC this morning...isn't sure what he has done...any helpful suggestions appreciated please :)

    Lev,

    Just did a Google search and from what I read, safe mode is supposed to be a run once thing or only good for that instance that the browser is opened. Have you tried rebooting your computer to see if that helped?:)

    Yeah I rebooted as the first step when it wouldn't open normally. I have no idea what he did. He was on myspace.com...went to click on the +40's chat apparently, and then said some window popped up asking for him to ok Firefox to be the chat server. He ok'd that. Then it asked some question about a default user and he ok'd that.

    Funny thing is the Konfabulator sidebar is nothing to do with Firefox. Firefox doesn;t say it is in safe mode, but the fact that all the extras have gone (bookmarks, extensions, themes, adblock etc) makes me think it is. Maybe it isn't. Maybe he screwed up big time :mad:

    I wondered about going back to yesterday's restore point...or should I uninstall/reinstall Firefox as a first step?

    Appreciate your help Novice :D Thanks.

    Lev,

    Your husband may have created a new profile and that could be why all your bookmarks, etc. have vanished. :) Check and see if your old profile is available and try it.:)

    You mean a Windows profile, or a Firefox profile? How do I go about checking this. I know I could work it out but if it is simple enough to type, I would greatly appreciate you saving half my weekend ;)

    Start->run->firefox.exe -p

    Click on your profile and enjoy :)

    That didn't give me a choice of profiles. It just opened Firefox browser in the same way. I'm running 1.0.7 if that helps.

    Make sure you have all instances of firefox closed.

    Reboot first then do it if you must ;)

    Firefox Safe Mode only disables extensions and user-installed themes, it doesn't make them disappear from the Extension Manager and Theme Manager (they're just grayed out), or affect your bookmarks and other data. Of course, you now know that you weren't in safe mode, but I thought that needed clarifying.
