Internet Explorer 6.0 shuts down with out error message.

Was wondering if anyone can help me out?

Internet Explorer 6.0 with service pack 2 installed on Windows XP home OS is shutting down when clicking on links. This happens randomly when surfing the web. I have checked for viruses, spyware, adware, malware, and the system is clean. Does anyone have any suggestions of what may be causing the problem or how to solve the problem?

you do proably have a trojan horse, i had a similar problem and it was resolvved by
uninstalling sp2 ,and reinstalling sp2. try!

 

Try this:
Close all apps, then open up 'Task Manager' to note the currently running processes under 'Processes' tab, try to close out of unknown executable by using 'end process' button for all under your user name, if any off the unknown ones doesn't let you, doesn't close or appears back, you possibly have some sort of an infection.

Another and possibly simpler way would be to run HijackThis to see what is running in the background and also what processes start with Windows.

 

yah, you should get ad-aware second edition. it works really well for me. i recommend u download it and use it.

Two words: Get Firefox! (My personal opinion)... Otherwise... MS AntiSpyware has a built in feature to restore all of IE's defaults... Maybe that would work.
