    Hi i have the hijack regedit, hijack task mangr, and Hijack system hidden . I have went through the read me run me and the clean up procedure for XP but it is still their. Malwarebytes seems to be the only one that detects it (from my inexeperianced eye) but does not remove it . Please find attached the various logs as per clean up procedure. Any help would be much appreciated as it's driving me crazy.

    Can't locate Super anti spyware log or root repeal , if needed should i re-run scan ? Sorry

    Your SAS logs are here:
    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Curly Monster\Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware\Logs\"
    supera~1.log  25 Feb 2010        2222  "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 02-25-2010 - 01-10-06.log"
    supera~2.log  25 Feb 2010        1292  "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 02-25-2010 - 02-52-40.log
    Now you need to re-run MBAM and have it fix everything it finds!! Your last log indicates you took no action.

    Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\windows\system32\nepalloid.bat

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    * MBAM log
    * SAS logs
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Thanks will give it a go .

    Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by "Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry" ?

    Away for a few days will give it a go on Monday

    Thank you :)

    It means exactly that. Once you have opened notepad and copied to it what I posted, you will click Save File As, then choose the type of file ( All Files ) and the destination is your desktop. Once this is on the desktop, just double click it as you would to open any desktop link.

    You need to attach that log so I can see what files you are referring to.

    :)

    Are you misspelling the file that TimW wants you to delete?

    This is showing in your ComboFix log.txt

    Sorry for the delay, and the interruption.....LOL.

    Are you using a thumb drive? If so, please do this:

    For the external Hard Drive and a USB stick.

    Insert your flash drive before you begin. Hold down the Shift key when inserting the flash drive until Windows detects it to bypass the autorun feature. This will keep the autorun.inf from executing automatically.

    Please have all your removable storage devices ready for disinfection.

    Download Flash Disinfector by sUBs and save it to your desktop.

    * Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it.
    * Your desktop and icons may disappear. This is normal.
    * It will do a cleanup of removable storage devices, and write a protected Autorun.inf file to help prevent re-infection.
    * Follow any prompts that may appear.
    * The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
    * Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
    * There will be no GUI interface or log file produced.
    * Reboot your computer when done.

    Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.

    Now:
    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nepalloid.bat
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nepalloid.vbe

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    No worries :)

    Right managed to locate and delete file .....nepalloid.bat since my last post (sorry) so do i need to still add in code box C:\WINDOWS\system32\nepalloid.bat or just
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nepalloid.vbe ?

    Q2. I have already run a scan on flash drives using malwarebytes , would you still recommend me to use the flash disinfector ?

    Q3. This is probably a really silly one , but would my printer count as a removable device ?:-o

    Thanks for all your help , i feel we are getting somewhere :-D

    Just go ahead and run everything I posted to you. ( Your printer would not count as a removable device. )

    One last thing to deal with and then I will give you the final clean up.

    Code:
    KILLALL::

    FF::
    FF - ProfilePath - c:\documents and settings\Curly Monster\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gumjtdoa.default\
    FF - prefs.js: browser.search.selectedEngine - MyWebSearch
    FF - prefs.js: keyword.URL - hxxp://www.mywebsearch.com/jsp/cfg_redir2.jsp?id=ZUxdm554YYGB&fl=0&ptb=FB2ZKaRNwI3aWB2k8jpPkQ&url=http://search.mywebsearch.com/mywebsearch/dft_redir.jhtml&st=kwd&si=39598&searchfor=

    [IMG]
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
