    Hi

I need some advice on how to set up my HP mini 110 notebook. It has Windows 7, 2gb Ram and intel Atom 1.66ghz cpu.

I have read the sticky on malware protection and have downloaded and installed Comodo Wirewall. The sticky says this is an antivirus as well is that what the scanner option is? Is the update for both antivirus scanner and firewall then?
Secondly Windows Defender has been switched off, I think this is automatic as a result of Comodo Firewall. However MsMpEnge.exe continues to run taking up large amounts of CPU - how do I stop this?
Thirdly despite reading the sticky, I am still confused around antispyware. I have paid for ioBit advance system care 8 so what more should I add to complement this?
Fourthly on myLenovo laptop (windows 7, 4gb ram, 2.4 ghz) I have ioBit advanced system care 8, ioBit anti malware fighter, avira anti virus and comodo firewall. Is there a potential conflict in this and have I got everything covered?

    Many thanks for advice

    Matthew

The exe file I downloaded was called cfw_intaller and properties show it as internet security. When I open the programme it says Comodo Firewall and General Tasks include Scan. So I think I have just firewall but it does have a scan option which is somewhat confusing but I assume in any case if there is an inbuild scanner into comodo firewall, this would not provide real time protection.. :confused

[If you want full protection (FW, AV, Spyware) in one program you need CIS Premium Free:

So it is possible to get the full comodo internet security for free? It seems that on their own site they want $89? Is their any difference?
Will it do all that I need when it comes to malware ?

    Hi

Thanks for the link. I could find no way of not downloading privdog and geekbuddy - even though I clicked customised installation, there were no options. So now the computer is running at 100% CPU with various comodo processes seeming to take up a lot of the processor space including live support, cavwp.exe, cis.exe, cmdagent.exe. It's kind of the opposite of what I wanted in that I need something which is as light as possible given limited processor and RAM. I am now trying to uninstall Geek buddy although Privdog is not listed in the programs and nor is Comodo Internet Security - just Comodo Firewall. And MsMpeng.exe is still running - how do I stop this??:cry
And is comodo internet security the best thing for a small notebook like mine...?

OK so after trawling the web, I have now uninstalled Microsoft Security Essentials and have just got Comodo running - firewall and antivirus. There is no mention of antispyware in the comodo interface... is this enough? The CPU is no longer at 100% and performance is much better...

Thanks for being patient with me :-D

    mastermioux...

I think I read someplace that Comodo Internet Security registers as anti-spyware with Windows 7, along with a-v and firewall. I can't remember where I read this, nor where it would be verifiable in Windows. If you installed Comodo Firewall and a-v from one installer, I think you have Comodo Internet Security. Even still wouldn't hurt to keep Malwarebytes scanner around, as JoeRay12 said, to scan when you are suspicious of a problem.

Thanks for everybody's input :) Privdog is not listed on programs and features. Comodo Firewall is and I assume this is in fact the full internet security package but because firewall was already installed on the computer, upgrading has not changed its name.
However now I am experiencing problems with windows update :( Since uninstalling microsoft security essentials, I am not able to install updates, install a fix (microsoft update standalone package) which gives error0x80070424 or the fix for that from support.microsoft.com/kb/968002
The message I get from the last is:
"an error occurred while trouble shooting"
    Package ID: unknown
    Path: Unknown
    Error code 0x80070005
    Source: Engine
    User: User PC/New User
    Context: Restricted

So I am going round in circles, every fix seems to have another error associated with it..

I am not sure if this is connected with the uninstalling of MSE or some other setting....

    Thanks for help

OK I have followed instructions and installed CIS premium after uninstalling comodo firewall. I also downloaded and installed IOBit Advance system care 8.1 PRO as I had paid for it. Do you have any opinion on whether I need to deactivate some of its functions for notebook to work at its best? Also what the best light weight browser is for a notebook with limited RAM and CPU - task manager shows CPU reaches 100% very quickly......At the moment I am using Chromodo as alternative to Chrome...

    Thanks again :)

    Thanks for this
From what I can see the IObit Advanced System Care only runs when you use the scan option.

I'll have a look at the other lightweight browsers you mention.

    Many thanks again

The above doesn't sound right, as your latest thread in the Malware forum suggests you didn't achieve the above, since you repeat the issue of 'Can't install CIS as it says I have Comodo Firewall installed', and you also list AVIRA as installed.

You're right. I was using IObit uninstall but as I have 32 bit system perhaps it didn't get rid of everything. I will now try Revo and delete Avira and the rest of the old Comodo Firewall.

Did you do a powerful scan and restart your computer after uninstalling?
Iobits uninstaller is a great program.

Did you get Malwarebytes straighten out?
