Advent 5611 Drivers

Hi,

I recently removed Vista and installed XP on my Advent 5611 laptop.

It's originally a Vista laptop, so it now has missing drivers.

Im not sure if there would be XP drivers for this, so I would be grateful for any help.

I think that should cover it! If you have any issues, or if I missed anything, please post and I'll try to help. Be sure to install the files in the same order as I've listed them above: install the chipset first, and install KB888111 before installing the sound driver.

I'd like to put XP on a 5611. Using the process you've very kindly provided, if for whatever reason, it doesn't work as expected, can I just re-image the machine from the recovery partition? I suppose what I'm asking is whether there's a risk of permanent damage.

There is no chance of any permanent 'damage'. If the PC has a recovery partition that you can access by pressing F10 (or whatever the key is), then as long as you don't erase it or format it, it should be fine. However, you should have no problems using the above drivers to get your WinXP installation working correctly. While I do not own the Advent 5611 PC, it seems that the drivers I posted above work fine since the other person didn't have any problems. Just be sure to install the drivers in the same order as they are listed (chipset first ALWAYS! and make sure to install KB888111 before the sound driver).

hey, found your post while seeking drivers for a advent 5611, goodjob!!!
I was runing vista, but now ive xp on the laptop, all of the drivers are working except i cant get the builth in camera on? when I hit the 'FN' key and 'F11' thich is for the camera the light beside the camera comes on but nt sure what to do next, ive tryed looking in my computer to see does it show up their, does anyone know where to get software or what else can I do, thanks for your help

 

ok got it sorted, all of the drivers givin here worked. the way I got the "built in" webcam to work was to install webcam software from the net cant remember the name. but i just googled free webcam software and it was one of the first that i downloaded, problem solved. must admit advent have very poor support website, but thank to this site for posting the driver's links, hopefully this will help others that are having this problem!!!
