    Tried a restore point?

Where these "mapped drives" or physically located in your p.c?
Where these different partitions on the same / several Hard drives?

If these are mapped drives check your network card and network cable.
If these are external usb drives check the power supply and cable to the usb check the device manager has the usb devices enabled.

If you're in Windows, right-click on Computer/My Computer and select "Manage". In Computer Management, locate "Storage" on the left, expand the menu and click on "Disk Management". Can you see your drives here?

Do you have an internal card reader in your computer?

Restarted my pc and all drives have reappeared except f: which is a usb port on the front of my machine. I tried the right-clicking of My Computer etc but i only my cd and dvd drive yet when i go into my computer the other drives are there.
Also, im a bit of a n00b so i assume an internal card reader is something that detects usb devices?
How do i know if they are mapped drives or physically located in my pc?

    Thanks alot

An internal card reader would be a slot directly on the computer, built in by the manufacturer, that reads memory cards. External card readers plug in through a USB port.

If the drives show in My Computer then it should be listed what kind of drives they are. C:\ will be listed as Local Disk, as will all other hard drives. Your CD/DVD drive will be listed as such, and if you plug in an iPod or USB drive, it will show up as a Removable Disk. Mapped network drives will be labeled as network drives.

That's the way USB ports work. If something like an ipod, stick drive, external hd, external optical drive is plugged in, a drive letter will appear. In your case it sounds like F:\. When nothing is plugged in, then F disappears.
