ive been having trouble today with my computer.
it all started after i installed a game onto my computer, MVP baseball 2004. after it was installed, my EZ Firewall alerted me asking me if i wanted to allow cleanup to access other programs? i click no and the screen goes away.
in the alert screen that pops up it says..
    Action: OpenProcess
    Application: ~e5d141.tmp
    Version: 1, 0, 0, 1
    Target: mvp2004.exe

even after i click no, cleanup.exe still goes into my programs secured for internet access section on my EZ Firewall program list.
my Spyare Doctor runs everytime my computer starts and it notified me of a spware program C-Dilla. i quarantine and remove this.
i then was trying to start up my mvp baseball 2004, but after clicking it, it asked me again if i wanted to allow cleanup access other programs.
i again clicked no, and it went through the whole process again, of going into my programs secured for internet access, and then when doing spyware Doctor check informing me i have C-Dilla yet again

i imagine one solution would be to uninstall mvp baseball 2004 and not install it again, but i just spent $50plus on this game and would like to play it.. are there any other options?

    im still somewhat confused.

so alot of people say that SafeCast, C-Dilla are spyware and harmfull to a computer

but according to http://www.macrovision.com/products/legacy_products/safecast/safecast_cdilla_faq.shtml they say that SafeCast and C-Dilla are not spyware and will not effect my computer in a negative way.. so why do so many poeple say these are spyware?

if they are indeed spyware and i remove them and leave them removed, then my game doesnt work?
so in order for me to work my game, i need to have this SafeCast,C-Dilla,cleanup.exe programs to be there?

if they are spyware and its better for me to remove them, is there another option to work my game?
with alot of people out there playing games on their computers, they must have this SafeCast aswell, and they have no problems? or is it they just dont know?

im still confused. is there anything else i can do?

It's up to you to weigh the pros and cons of having software like this on your PC.
If you want to play the game, it would seem you are stuck with it. Otherwise return the game and uninstall all the stuff the put on your computer (that may take some hunting since from the articles an uninstall of the game does not uninstall the other items).

My opinion, I would not want it on my computer. Anything that is written like this to allow it to sneak past firewalls should raise a warning flag. If there is even the slightest chance they are spying on you (keeping track of what you are doing) or could interfere with other normal operation of your PC or CD-R/CD-RW drives, I would not want that software on my PC. But again that is my opinion. You have to decide for yourself what you want.

    Hi Star!

Another good point and reason for questioning having this kind of software on your PC.

i read something somewhere about TurboTax, but cant rememebr where or what.
what type of personal information does this C-Dilla spyware send out? i dont have any personal information on my computer. i dont do any shopping or banking or anything like that where i have to enter any information. i dont download music or anything from any of the p2p file sharing things. i dont have a CD burner where im burning or copying anything. even sites ive signed up for like this one i dont put my last name, and sometimes dont even put my real first name ..so can they still get other usefull information?

Unknown. But according to what I have read, they can keep track of what you are doing on your PC. Suppose they keep track of programs you run and games you play. It's still spying! Even if they do not know your name, they will know your IP Address and other info possibly tracked thru your connection to your ISP. And will you never have a CD burner and never make copies of anything? Will you never possibly buy anything online?

Here are some links about C-dilla and Turbo Tax:

i dont know how to hook up a CD burner and im not really interested. the only music i listen to is buying the CD if its worth it or just changing the stations on the radio. im only in my mid 20's and dont even own a credit card, i either pay cash or use my debit card. ever since i first came online ive heard too many horor stories and would never put any credit information online for buying or whatever. i dont play CD games on the computer expect for this baseball one i just installed. i had originally got it back for Christmas and used to play it alot in the winter/spring before i had trouble with my computer, then restored everything and downloaded all the spyware/adware things to keep it clean. now i want to play it again. even if i wanted to return it, all they would do is give me an exchange on the same game, not even a store credit.
with all the games out there, havnt people had this problem before? and do they continue to play their game with the C-Dilla spyware? i guess there isnt a way to remove this and still play the game?

I'm sure other people have had the same problems. If you want to keep the game, you will just have to ignore the messages about C-dilla and you will have to allow the cleanup program to pass through your firewall.

Is this a game that must be played online? If not, why do they even need to send info out?

We cannot help you make a decision like this? If you want to play the game, your decision is already made.

i dont need to be online to play the game.
when im not online and i click to play the game, i have to put the CD in to play it. it then asks me if i want to allow cleanup to access other programs. i can click no, or not but the cleanup.exe still goes into the program list.
is it possible to do this? ..
when im not online and want to play the game, i can alow the C-Dilla to be there and then play the game.. but when im finished for that time, i can quarantine/remove the C-Dilla and cleanup.exe from my programs before i would go online ?
but the next time i went to play the game, while not online,. would my previous game be still saved?
i could allow the C-Dilla to be there each time i wanted to play the game, while not being online, but then when im done the game, i quarantine/remove it before going online?

I don't know! You could try it and see what happens! You may want to considering moving this discussion to the Games Forum!
