I am trying to get rid of virtumundo through following the various steps posted. However, I have gotten stuck right away. I am trying to enable viewing of hidden files, however nothing shows up in the advanced settings box under view in the folder options. Is there any way I can get around this?

    thanks,

    1. Do one of the following:

    >In Windows 98/Me/2000, on the Windows desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
    >In Windows XP, on the taskbar, click Start > My Computer.

    2. Do one of the following:
    >In Windows 98, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
    >In Windows Me/2000/XP, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

    3. On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.

    4. Do one of the following:
    >In Windows 98, in the Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show all files.
    >In Windows Me/2000/XP, uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show hidden files and folders.

    5. If you see a warning message, click Yes.

    6. Click Apply.

    7. Click OK.

Make sure you are logged on with administrator status.

The reason I probably can't see the hidden files is because I am not logged in under administrator status. The problem is, I can't seem to log in under adminsitrator status at all. Either the icon for the adminsitrator does not appear at start up, or when I try to log out and log in under administrator, the computer freezes. I am trying to follow the directions posted under "READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal" for windows XP. As I said before, I cannot locate the hidden files or log in under adminstrator. I was able to download all the recommended programs, however, I was not able to turn my computer on under safe mode with networking support. I got to the screen where I could select this mode, but the computer always froze when loading my personal settings. So, I just ran all the programs suggested without being in safemode. Needless to say, Ad-Aware SE Personal is still continuing to pick up this virtumundo thing and my computer is going extremely slow and freezing up all the time. Do you have any suggestions on how I should proceed next?

    Thanks
