Need some advice please. I have multi accts n not doing so hot at managing. i'm beginning to hate checking my email.

    1. Biz
    2. Primary - that is getting a lot of junk, thanks to a friend
    3. New Primary - to get rid of above junk
    4. MG's (the only one that does not get spam) WTG MG's
    5. Junk - also a game sn
    6. Game – really just the sn, but i have to log into, some mail, some IMs
    7. Game – "
    8. Game - "
    9. Game - "
10.Old primary - old friends have not deleted it in 5 yrs and use 2. too

Yep, and thats after I deleted some...stop laughing at me!

I know there are a lot of downloads for email management @ MG's but I don't have a clue here what I want to do.

Objective is to stop spending so much time on email & more time playing games. no really, i spend 8 + hrs on the biz one, so really don't want to spend another hr on the rest of them, but don't want to delete them, just manage them, i still use game ones just not as often.

I now know that i should have set the game ones up as sub accts, but I goofed and can't change it now w/o loosing the sn I think. Should I just load them all on trillian & try to manage them that way? Do a global connect, but don't add the primary ones?

I kinda figure u all have been there n done that, so any suggestions would help.

    Peg

If you have MS Office with Outlook, or even Outlook express, and mail that allows POP access can be set up on either of those. Unfortunately, places like Yahoo and Hotmail have eliminated POP access from their free services.

I would take some time to check hte FAQ's of your e-mails and see which allow POP access. (should be under options and POP/Forwarding type setup.) If your accounts do not have POP access or forwarding, then unless they offer their own download client, you are somewhat stuck.

I do know that both Yahoo and GOogle (probly hotmail/msn too) offer an IE Toolbar that shows when youhave mail and provides a direct link to the mail page. gmail does have POP access (I get it with Outlook myself when I am home).

Hope this helps you some, will save you the frustration of trying to figure out why you can' get at your e-mail with outlook...

Any other questions off of this, feel free to ask.

I use Thunderbird to manage my four email accounts. One hotmail, one yahoo, and two gmail. While yahoo and hotmail don't offer free POP, Thunderbird has an add on called Webmail that will allow you to access them for free.

Plus, like Firefox it is very customizable.

This thread is talking about using Webmail in thunderbird.

It can be a little confusing to get it all set up if you have never done it before, but once you do checking all your email accounts is as easy as double clicking an icon.

Since the accts r gmail, yahoo, msn, hotmail & globalnet I'm gonna try Thunderbird w/webmail. I use IE7 tho n think I need to install Mozilla for this to work? Thanks for your help taking care of my chaos.

What I meant was install FireFox? I'm a thinking that would be a yes, since I don't see why they would support IE.

    Thanks again,

No, you don't strictly NEED to install Mozilla Firefox. Associations with an email client are made in Windows itself.

However, installing Firefox isn't going to hurt. It is a little more secure because it won't execute activex controls. You'll still be able to use Internet Explorer when you need to.

    Thank you Mada_Milty,

I understand now, I don't need FireFox, but it would be more secure. I had some trouble getting FF to work on this pc XP-SP2 last time i tried (yrs ago), but it might help keep me out of trouble, so i will try again this weekend.
