I'm using Win Me and my dial-up connection box pops on-screen at each boot up. I've ckd. everything in msconfig and nothing there is causing the problem. Also, I've ctrl+alt+del and nothing there seems to be amiss either.

This annoyance started after reinstalling Yahoo Messenger and after installing Zone Alarm Pro 3 (had Zone Alarm Free before). I've gone thru those 2 programs with a fine toothed comb and don't see anything there either.

I also went to Control Panel>Network>Configuration and changed from Client for Microsoft Networks to Windows Logon, thinking, that on a fluke, that may be causing it. No luck turning it off there either.

Any other ideas for me to try? Probably something obvious that I'm overlooking. Thanks in advance for any help.

Try this: Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab and select "Never dial a connection"

Thanks, alanc. Your instructions turned that nasty connection box off. Thought I'd let you know in case others have the same problem.

Also, Astroman, I dnloaded TCP Optimizer and will install it later today. Hope I won't have too many cobwebs in my brain to understand how it works.

    Thanks again guys.
