    This is tough to explain but I will try.

    HP Pavillion PC
    AMD K6
    184MB RAM
    Windows 98SE
    ISP = Netscape dial-up
    Browser = Firefox
    Modem = Conexant SoftK56 (most updated drivers installed)
    Zone Alarm Firewall
    AVG Antivirus
    Spybot
    Ad-aware

    Here is my problem --- I can log on to the internet just fine and everything seems to work OK, slow but OK, then it goes through these periods of slowness/unresponsiveness... What I mean by that is when I click on a link or enter a URL the computer will just sit there for a while before showing any sign of working on the task... The connection lights don't blink or anything... Then after anywhere from 15 seconds to 2 minutes later the computer comes back from it's vacation and starts to work normally again... The worst problem is that it takes these breaks very often...

    Any ideas???
