Programs for checking activity on the computer

Hello.

What is the best program to monitor any types of activity on the computer? Both real time and as a log, beyond Windows own event logger?

I'm talking about changes in software, acitons, possible packets being sent such as from keyloggers, etc.

If there's a program that does all of this it can cost alot but preferably it should be cheap. Alot for me as a student is like max 100 dollars

Best to start with what comes with the OS and your security software first, before plugging any holes with specific tools, which version of Windows do you use and what are the hardware specifications?
