    Hello,

A few days ago, I dowgraded to XP from Vista on my HP computer. But I could not find some of the drivers and that's why some sections of the PC like the onboard sound system and keyboard multimedia keys do not work.

When I installed XP, I left the Vista recovery partition there. But I was not smart enough to create a recovery disk before I install XP over Vista. Now I am left with the problem that I cannot recall vista from the recovery partition.

While I was searching a way to fix the problem on the net, I found something called "Super Grub Disk". Please check the below links. On the second link a person tells about a similar problem of mines.

I think Super Grub Disk is a disk that runs on the start up and can read all the drives on the computer including the vista recovery partition on the hard drive that you can recover vista from there by the help of this program.

But I am not a computer geek that's why I could not comprehend how this program works.

    Can any body help me?

    Cheers.

    Cheers...

The supergrub disk is to fix a problem if you have both XP and Vista installed. That is not your case. You hve XP installed in place of Vista.

Did you get any sort of recovery CD from HP with your computer? If so, boot from it and that will read the recovery partition nd re-install Vista as it came from the factory.
If not, contact HP and see if you can buy a recovery CD. Tell them that you did not create one and your computer won't boot Vista.

No I didn't get a recovery CD but I solved the problem using super grub disk. I menaged to boot the recovery partition using SGD.

SGD works if you install XP over Vista but leave the Vista Recovery Partition there.
