Tried finding some help on the boards here, but maybe looking in the wrong place.....

Windows XP operating system....cycling on the off....starts loading windows, then shuts down to restart again. Have to unplug to shut down. I tried a recovery disk (Kaspersky) that showed Exploit Trojan on Java....all else seemed fine. Tried to delete or quarantine, but not being able to do so on the Kaspersky recovery dick. Any recommendations or thoughts from the communuity would be great. TY!

Be patient. One of the malware fighters will be along to read your logs and tell you the next steps to take. It may take anywhere from 1 to 3 days depending how busy the fighters are. They will get to you. No one with malware is overlooked.

Can you not start Windows? Have you tried Safe Mode - tapping F8 or F5 just before the Windows screen?

Is there a message on the screen when you have to force shutdown?

Thank you for the replies! Tried Safe Mode with and w/o Networking without luck. No message is provided when it automatically goes to reboot. Upon start up attempt, PC beeps once ... then twice....then appears to be starting/loading Windows when it shuts down.

Can you try to describe exactly how far into Windows boot that it gets before it restarts please? It's important that we can work out where the problem lies.

If you get to the F8 advanced start up menu, can you see a setting at the bottom like 'Disable restart on BSOD' or blue screen? Select that option, if there's a blue screen error, we need to know the exact details written on it.
