When I enter the Internet using My IE browser the home page has been changed to http://v73.us/ search page and it is impossable to change it. I have tried to delete the entries for this page in the registry. When I get back on the internet the v73.us search page is there. I have run all the spyware and virus software that is recommended in the "Read me first before asking for support" for my Win98 SE. I would really appreciate any help you could provide. I have downloded "HijachThis v1.99.1 and printed out the log. The v73.us appears at least 13 times in the registry.

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99.1 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

    Hi,
I want to let you know that I followed your advice and downloaded 'HijackThis" and scanned my system. The first time I had 10 listings of the nasty site. I added check to them and hit the fix bar. When I scanned again it was down to 8. I added checks to them and hit the fix bar. I scanned again, this time it was down to 7, and again I hit the fix bar. The next scan showed 6 entries and the fix bar was hit. the next scan had no changes. I gave up, I turned off the unit and went to bed as it was getting pretty late. Today, I thought I'd try again so I ran Hijack and scanned. The 6 entries were still there. I added checks to the 6 and hit the fix bar. When I scanned this time they were gone. I then entered the Internet with my IE browser my "old" homepage was there.

I neglected to tell you, that I am using a U.S.Robotics wireless router between 2 systems. The system that had the problem is connected to a Robotics Adapter that is being driven by the router. What is strange about the whole thing is that the the problem got past the router without effecting the main unit. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I am just wondering how it got through my fire wall without being detected.

I want to thank you for you help and I will most certainly heep all the programs that you suggested on my units an long as they talk to each other.

You should NEVER fix anything with HJT if your are not extremely familiar with it, because not everything HJT finds is bad. Its always best to ask before doing something, because removing the wrong thing could not let you boot back up. If you want, post a HJT so that I can analyze it for you.
