When I try to access any of the above I get an error "Encountered a problem...". When I first ran my AVG it found Downloader.Tibs and I-Worm/Stration.CBV and it put them both in the vault. This being said, EI, system restore, and services are all unavailable. Firefox continues to run OK through all of this. I added the Hijack log, I am not sure if this will help or not. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, this is the first issue like this that I have not been able to remedy on my own.

Also, is this the kind of worm/virus that I would be worried about what I am looking at on the internet, IE Banking, EBay and things of that nature? I have already cleared all my cache in regards to the web.

Today when I try to run an AVG scan it errors at the "hosts" file and says it can not read it. C:\\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts I may just blow the machine out but I really want to try and fix this first...any ideas?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Your problems may or may not be caused by malware. The only way to really know is for you to run through the below procedure. You will have trouble running the BitDefender and PandaActiveScan online scans since you can only use FireFox. Thus when you install and run CounterSpy to get a log, also install and run AVG Anti-Spyware and save a log from it too.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
