Well, some justice has finally arrived, at least. Although Saddam's life is over, the overall situation in Iraq is far from over (if it, indeed, ever will be).

Now America and her allies need to ask themselves what level of involvement they want to continue, if any. Without getting bogged down in anything to political, I think now is a very opportune time for nations to consider withdrawal, and let them get on with whatever government is installed - for better or for worse.

Eventually the video of his hanging will be leaked over the internet.
But thank god the bastard is finally dead.

Sheer stupidity on the eve of a Muslim Religious Holiday the Iraqi Government just made three Religious Martyrs for all those Zealots out there. Imprisoning him and his kind for LIFE incommunicado, would have allowed the zealots to fade away, this action just fuels there Religious fervor. Saddam and his brethren are laughing all the way H*ll, knowing that their deaths have ignited the Flames once again.

Might also fuel the flames for a civil war, but we will have to find out.

Muslims will always have their martyrs, it's part of their belief system.

Do we, or better yet, should we give a F@%K ?
    I don't think it matters.

Get everyone out of that clusterf$%k and bring them home to their families. Just because this fickle Figurehead is now swinging from the rafters doesn't mean a just as useless asshole isn't ready to take his place.

Sink or swim, let them run their now "FREE" country anyway they dam-well please.

They can go to hell on their own. No more needless death of U.N. Troops.

Edit: Sorry, I should not comment on things that cause me emotional stress.

The other side of it is, that as long as they are alive and in prison, they will always be another excuse for terrorism in order to free their 'illustrious' leaders. (Remember, they tried that in Germany in the '70's, with the Bader-Meinhof Gang, and in Ireland, etc., etc.).

There will be hatred, no matter what. The religious nuts hated us long before the invasion, or 9-11. They will continue to do so, and try and spread their malignant ideas to others.

At least with the ringleaders punished, there will be a message on international accountability sent, or at least I hope so.

Too true Phantom, but with time the zealots lose the ways and means as the Bader-Meinhof Gang did, and a decrepit old failing leader held in prison does little to inspire the young, as a martyred dead leader seems to. Time alone will tell us which course was right, but given my small knowledge of the situation from the time I was in Iraq, I still feel that this was the wrong choice, and the wrong timing. Like you I hope and pray for ALL the people of the Middle East, that the time of violence and death ends soon.

    Agreed...

I was talking to a friend about there being a video and we figured they didn't allow it. Maybe they did, but I don't think seeing the video would give me as much satisfaction as this whole thing being over.

Well, I hope the upcoming election gives us better choices. Couldn't be much worse. Prob like any coin. Depending on which side it falls on you get a diff pic, but it is still the same coin.

The Bader-Meinhof Gang, or German Red Army Faction, which was their correct name ended with the jail suicides of Andreas Bader and Ulrike Meinhof. But that was only after the kidnapping and murder of prominent Industrialist Hans Martin Schiller, who was kidnapped in a failed attempt to procure their release from prison.

Similar scenarios have occurred with the I.R.A. and Palestinian terrorists. Then there was the Munich massacre and again, a hijacking of a Lufthansa airliner to procure the release of three surviving Black September terrorists, which Germany foolishly gave in to.

One thing my own military experience has taught me. If someone is an enemy - then seek and eliminate A.S.A.P. Prisoners only burden the prisoner taker, and provide incentive for rescue missions. Fade away in time? Usually not. Nelson Mandela was a far bigger hero after 27 years for alleged terrorist activities, than before his incarceration.

This sort of eternal hate and payback situation is far from new. My father served in Northern Ireland and the then Palestine after WWII, and was getting shot at by both sides. I experienced similar payback and tribal feuding in Africa. The peace keepers end up being hated by everyone. The so-called 'reason' is just an excuse for psychotic anti-social violent mentality.

Anyway, I don’t think I’ll be losing any sleep over Saddam and his half-brother’s deaths. I might even have three extra beers for New Year. :D

I may not have been in Iraq, but I'm home safe. Kinda figured something was going on when they announced the alert level went up to Orange as we got to Chicago yesterday.

I would of rather seen Saddam put to death by shooting squad, with me as one of the masked gunmen.

if you was you might of been lucky and got the real bullet because in a firing squad only one person has a real bullet and the rest are blanks and noone knows who has the blanks or the real thing. thats if they still do it that way.
I say he should of been gassed like he did to so many people..:mad:
and i think we should stay over there until the job is done. If i could join the army i would be more than glad to join and be over there fighting but mental problems keep me from joining.

The rest of us tried not to. ;) Reminds of those lines from the film 'The Pirates of Penzance'. <Woman>"You'll be hung for this!" <Pirate>"Oh, I am!, ...I am!";)
