Seegate Free Agent External hard drive

    Error message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

    I am getting this error message when tried to access my external hard drive. All of a sudden this is occurring. I bought a new usb cord to replace the old one and that did not work.

    I tried Seegate tools. The drive is not being recognized at all so I cannot run the tests on the hard drive.
