I recently had to reformat and reinstall WIN98SE on a friends comp. Everything went fine except the sound card install. Although there are no warnings in the device manager it will not play wav files. When I click on a sound it seems as it is playing but I hear nothing. It will play a music cd ok though and you can hear it. It's a Soundblaster Live Value PCI card. Checked to make sure nothing was muted also. Bios and chipset were updated and installed OK. Any suggestions would be welcome!! As I am confused

I take it you have checked that the Soundblaster live card is the one listed in default playback device in audio tab, under sound properties?
