IE explorer problems

i normally dont use IE but i need it for a program for my school. I had IE 7 and that really messed up my comp and i read forums on not using it so yeah. now have IE 6(i think) but when i open it it dosent appear so i shut it off with the task manager i would really appriciate help on how to get IE 6 working thank you

Did you uninstall IE7 through Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel? Try Start, My Computer, Local Disk C, Program Files, Internet Explorer, right click on IEXPLORE.EXE,
choose properties, under the Version tab click File Version, what does it say?

It would appear that IE7 is gone. Try a fresh install of IE6;

i downloaded a fresh setup but it says theres another versoin of IE on the comp so i went through CCleaner and used the add remove and theres not internet explorer there and i checked through control panel just incase.

 

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click on Add/Remove Windows Components (on the left hand border), remove IE.

Then attempt the fresh install.

 

did that twice and it dident work...
