    Hi,

I think I have a virus on my PC but I have tried various anitspyware and antivirus programs and they don't detect it.

Occasionaly when I boot my PC into windows XP, a dog appears on the screen similar to the office help assistant, then the computers internal speaker makes some weird tune, then IE loads and tries to open a page that contains some VB script but IE blocks it.

Also, about every 10 minutes, some program runs for about 1 second then closes but I cant figure what it is in my list of processes. It on the task bar then closes again and also interrupts my games or playing a DVD etc.

Anybody ever seen this before or have any idea what will remove it?

    Thanks

    Asa

    Hi ASA

you could first of all run through our guide I have posted below and see what it turns up, but just for curiosities sake and I know this is going to sound a weird question BUT what type of Dog is it? ( is it a Scotty Dog by any chance, if so do you have WinPatrol installed as it has a Dog icon )

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support on a malware issue. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis
    .

I have attached a screen shot of the dog. I can also drag it around the screen. It also appears every time I open task manager.

The name of the file that it tries to load is ReadPlease.html in C:\Windows but this is only on startup and i have renamed it .bak - just in case IE opens it.

I will just read the links you have posted.

    Regards,

    Asa
