HijackThis is the last step and we have rules about how and when to post a log.

You should attempt to follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

If still having a problem after the above, you should read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log file as an attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Make sure you use HJT version 1.98.2 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment (not inline text as you did previously).

I am suspecting that your problem is related to the below two lines:
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft SSISVRI32 Protocol] ssisvri.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft SSISVRI32 Protocol] ssisvri.exe

I would suggest that you first get HijackThis located in a proper directory as I stated in a previous message. And then have HJT fix those two lines. Do no delete the ssisvri.exe file yet though so we can be sure it is not needed. Then reboot and see if this fixes your problem.

    Hi chaslang
I'm sorry about not going through the whole list. I only thought that I had to run spybot and adware(lavasoft) and then post a HJT.
Anyway, I ran through all the steps...I wasn't able to run buster.
Spybot still says it was unable to remove download accelerator plus ads (4 entries)
I ran a fix on those two entries in HJT and rebooted. Still no remedy. What is testing my sanity here is the inability to send and receive mail. I'm able to do it on start up sometimes..... after running spybot and adware and rebooting...
I don't know if I've missed anything that you would like to know. Going to do the whole process again. If a bulb glows in the meantime ....pls post.

Another thing I would like to know is how to run a program in safe mode when your logged on as administrator. The problem is that I would like to run stinger in safe mode....does it matter if i have to be logged on as admistrator? If yes, then the programme is on the desktop of my profile.....and when i log on as administrator, I just cant find it on the desk....how do we import the favourites of one profile into the administrator profile?
The machine is still very lethargic. Could the doctor prescribe something.

If you simply put Stinger in a folder that is alway available (rather then on your Desktop), you can run it from any user login. Make a folder like (just an example do it anyway you choose):
    C:\Downloads\Malware-Tools
    or
    C:\Program Files\Malware-Tools

You can put things in subfolders under this like:
    C:\Program Files\Malware-Tools\Stinger
    C:\Program Files\Malware-Tools\HijackThis
    C:\Program Files\Malware-Tools\CWShredder
    C:\Program Files\Malware-Tools\AboutBuster

    etc.

You should be following all the steps of the READ ME (where indicated) in safe mode.

I would uninstall Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) there where problems with older versions even containing spyware. See if that helps your problem. What specifically are the other items Spybot cannot remove.

What problem did you have with running About:Buster give the exact message? But note, you do not need to run it or HSremove unless you have one of the HSA/about:blank hijackers.
