I have a rather big problem and could do with some help regarding it. I have 8mb broadband which up until a few days ago has been working perfectly. It usually connects at around 4.5-6mb which is fine for me. Well now it's connecting at the same speed but when downloading or surfing the Web it doesn't reflect this.
I can not get my download speeds to go faster than 10kb/s and half the time it hovers around between 3-5kb/s. I HAVE been downloading at around 200-250kb/s so I'm not sure what has gone wrong. I would really appreciate as much help as I can get with this as I'm sure you can understand, it is beginning to be a BIG pain. HK |

Download speed will be dependant on where you are downloading from ...how busy their servers are, etc.
However, if this is a constant (regardless of download site:I.E. every dang site), then would suggest you contact your ISP. Have them come out and test it on their laptops. |

In South Africa after you reach a predefined cap you get moved to a slower connection. Ya I know that sucks. Maybe you reached your cap?

A service of 8Mb/sec, should yield about 800KB/sec. download.
On your side you can optimize the TCP/IP stack of your computer. Optimizing & Measuring the "Speed" of Internet Connection. Otherwise, contact your ISP and demand action. P.S. If they tell you that according to their computer every thing is OK, demand that they come to your house and check the system leading to your Modem and the out put of the Modem. :D
