No, not the Windows one... I got some spyware that used to show porn ads, but I got rid off that, but when I open IE7 (I use it sometimes), it goes to iehomepages.com site (don't go to it, it might screw your pc up :p). And a pop up says I have the virus it infected me with, and to press ok, which i never do.

Anyway! How do I make it so it doesn't go to iehomepages (btw, the spyware had a toolbar addition to IE7).... the default homepage is about:blank, so it shouldn't be going there.

    joshcrick HI

Run the below step by step, save the logs as you go then in your next post attach the requested logs and we can go from their.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Hey! I found the thing that's the problem in HiJackThis, but I can't delete it. I clicked delete, then re-scanned and it's still there.

OK if your deleting an item from Hijackthis then did you close all browser pages?

But if its stubborn, then you'll need to attach the logs.

I didn't have IE, nor Firefox open.

    Should I post the logs?

That would be ROGER THAT :)

but remember "attach" not post inline and dont skip any of the steps from the guide.

When I download CCleaner, and try to install it, it starts to install but does about 1/3 of the bar and then disappears really quickly.

    What do I do?

Installing CCleaner is in step 1! You have not gotten very far in 7 days!

Disconnect from the internet and try installing it in safe mode? Does that help? If that does not work try using this instead: ATF Cleaner

Do you have problems installing any other software?

I know, I've been busy. I just got it all ready, then it wouldn't work.

No, it didn't work in safe mode (I was in there initially, and disconnected my ethernet).

I downloaded ATF, should I use that? Does it do the same job?

Yes just use ATFcleaner for now! It does not have all the same features as CCleaner but it will accomplish part what we wanted to use CCleaner for. So use ATFcleaner in place of Ccleaner and continue on thru the rest of the steps.
