I've just ordered two 512mb sticks of RAM so will be upgrading from 512mb to 1gb.
What improvements will I notice when I've installed the 1gb of RAM as I'm not completely sure what to expect. HK |

RAM is where short term data is stored, while the hard drive is where long term stuff is stored. RAM is MUCH faster than a hard drive (which is a physical spinning drive) and when your computer has more RAM (fast) it doesnt need to load (as much of) the extra data onto the hard drive (slow).
You should notice quite a big difference in overall system performance i hope that was an ok explanation? its more complicated than that but i think i kinda got the point across lol.

You can expect your computer to respond more quickly. While two sticks of 512mb (one gig) is good, I would fiind out how much your motherboard can take total. i explain it to my customers that the RAM in your computer, is acting much like a garden hose. the larger the hose, the more water it can handle. The more RAM, the larger the amount of data can be processed at a faster rate.

TonyRush, this thread is 6 years old! Chances are good that the poster is on a different computer. He hasn't returned here in more than a year ago.
