Hi, I am a knowledgible pc user, but generally fumble through with macs. Anyways, I've noticed that when I deleted files from my girlfriend's thumb drive that I did not gain any memory, and I assume that there are hidden backup files. Is there a way to view these files?

When you deleted the items, did you empty the trash before unplugging it?
There are some hidden file which you will see if you plug the thumb drive into a Windows machine, but they generally are small files, and needed for OS X. However, if you don't empty the trash you may not have actually deleted the items and the space available would have remained the same. |

That's what I'm thinking, it's not officially deleted until the trash is deleted.
