Default Firefox Self-Destruct!

Started up Firefox today, and for some reason...

a) The Toolbar has rearranged itself. If I move things where I want it, it reverts to Bizzaro-fox when restarted.

b) Bookmarks were missing, but I used a back up to fix things.

I know there is some line in about:config that fixes this, but which one?

To reset defaults in firefox:

Start>Run>type into box %appdata% then hit OK. In the window that opens double-click/navigate to Mozilla>Firefox>Profiles>#####.default. Delete localstore.rdf. This file will be recreated when you restart firefox and any new settings you put into effect will be remembered.

*******
Bookmarks are safe as they are in a different file.

Oh, just thought I'd add if you want to test it to make sure no wanted settings are lost, just rename the orig to localstore1.rdf or similar and make sure FF is closed before renaming/deleting.

I can't help but that is hilarious dude. I hope to never have "bizarro-fox."

Corruption of the localstore.rdf file is one of the commonest problems in recent Firefox versions. It can cause a variety of symptoms, yours are the most typical. There is another way to clear that file, though it doesn't give you the option of backing it up: Exit Firefox completely, and restart the browser in Firefox Safe Mode. There should be a shortcut in your Start Menu for this, if not, see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode

A window called Firefox Safe Mode with some troubleshooting options will appear. Select the option "Reset toolbars and controls" and choose "Make Changes and Restart".
