CD ROM skipping

I got an iPod and have been putting all of my music cds on it (maybe I've done about 100 discs so far).

Now when playing CDs, they all skip, not like old records did...but just kind of "jumping" and missing areas on all of the discs, which are clean and unscratched.

I did end up getting a cleaning disc (looks like a cd with little brushes on the shiny side). It never seemed to stop the skipping.

    The PC is fairly new.

Could it be that it just wore out after playing 100 some CDs?

Is the PC still under Warrentry ?
If so , could be worth a chat to the supplier, in case it's a faulty drive.

When you were ripping the CDs did you have your Anti-virus turned on. If this is set up as "on-access" it can cause the symptoms you describe.

Appreciate it if you let us know if Yargwell's antivirus was the cause.
