Ipod/Win Me/ can't find the drive?

Ok here's the problem I have an old computer that I have Mp3's on, and i'd like to retrieve them, my ipod works with my new computer just fine, but when I plug it into my old E Machine with Win Me on it, it recognizes it as new hardware, and I get the screen when I plug it in, that says new plug and play device has been recognized or connected, but after that screen disappears, there is no new drive that is accessible or recognized, just C:/ and D:/ not even anything with it's own name.. I've tried finding a folder allocated for just the usb cord, but I can't find one, is there anything I can do??

Try this. http://saviomd.googlepages.com/ Windows 98/ME does not have a native USB driver for external drives.

OK, Its' been forever, but i'm up and trying this and got my old computer plugged in, and I just downloaded the driver, and now I have a new Start/Stop configuration for my ipod. But Win Me is not recognizing it as a new drive, therefor, there is no folder or drive to send music too? I can make a screenshot if need be... Have any more ideas??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to enable disk mode in your ipod, to enable it to function as a hard drive. How to enable disk mode with itunes: http://www.learninginhand.com/ipod/harddisk.html
