voltage problem

intel p4 cpu 3ghz (prescott)
2 gig crucial pc3200 DDR400 mem
crucial x800 pro 256 meg vid card
thermaltake purpower 600 watt atx 12v p/s
wd 160g sata drive
O/S windows XP home SP2

BIOS version 1005 (I havent flashed the BIOS since it came with this version)

Im getting a really low voltage reading via Asus Probe and my BIOS on my 12v rail. It fluctuates between 10.6-11.1 volts. I've swapped power supply's with a known good one and still the same readings. Ive checked output from my UPS and its 120 volts. Tested power on molex connectors and Im at 12.2 volts. Voltage on other rails and core are good. Temperature and fan speeds are all normal. All mobo connectors and molex connectors look good.

From what I have read off the web, I should be suffering severe pc problems with this low of a voltage, but mine is running just as smooth as it always has. No problems at all. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem? Could it be a bad voltage sensor on the mobo? Seems like I read somewhere that Asus mobos read voltage from certain p/s's incorrectly.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head "Faulty Sensor", actually quite common, if everything is working fine, leave alone. Hey if it ain't broke don't fix it sounds about right. Hey hope that helps

 

Properly calibrated instrument quality voltmeters cost more than most motherboards. Don't be suprised if the mobo sensor is down to price and a bit flaky.
