How Can I record TV Programs on my Hard Disk?

Hi,

I am buying a new system and it comes with TV tuner card and Windows Vista Ultimate.

Would I be able to record the TV programs on my Hard Disk with this PC or Do I Need More Hardware to do that ?

If yes, what other hardware do I need ?

The TV tuner card should come with its own PVR software

If so, then yes you can record TV straight to your Hard drive
It will depend on your computer as to the quality though.
If the computer comes with Vista Ultimate the hardware should be good enough for you to record at a high quality

 

I am currently using cable supplied by Cable TV operator to watch TV.I have never watched TV on my computer because I never had TV Tuner card.

I have P4 D 3.0 GHz. 2 GB DDR2, 256 MB ATI Radeon Dual Monitor Card, 250 GB Hard Drive.

I am buying a Dell Computer with Vista Ultimate & TV Tuner Card & 256 MB dual Monitor Card - ATI Radeon. Now do I need any other hardware to record TV ?

How much space one english movie with say 2.5 Hrs will take ?

It will come with the right software and hardware. Just hook your cable feed up to the TV card. As far as HD space, it depends on the file format and video quality you select.

 

Just did a test

2.5 hours on my card recording TV (analogue) at 'DVD quality'

= 7.6 GB
