Recover Powerpoint Data from scratched CD

Hi.

I have a cd with a powerpoint presentation on which includes perhaps 150-odd pictures from a trip I went on a few years ago.

Unfortunately the CD is in pretty poor condition and refuses to be read by my PC.

How best would I go about either repairing the CD or recovering any of the images stored upon it?

I have tried cleaning the cd with toothpaste and cleaning kits with little success.

Any help would be appreciated.
