connecting friends computer to my internet

I've been trying to repair my friends computer for some days now, with the help of the malware and software forums hopefully nearly there! I now want to connect her computer to my internet so i can download firefox, avg updates, etc.etc..
I've put my blueyonder disc in her machine and followed instructions for setup but after loading so far, gives me an error message saying limited LAN connection, click repair and message says can't find IP address.

This is what is listed in Network Connections:
Dial -Up - BT Broadband - BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem
LAN or High-Speed it says Broadcom 440x 10/100.

I use a wired router, and I do not had any problem conecting any computer to the web; but that just hapened a couple of days ago and the only thing that I did was a) unpluging the modem in that way it could refresh the address and this did not work, so b) I unpluged the router and this time, yes it work. So unplug the modem and let it refresh the address. By the way I never use the setup CD.
