kernel32.dll Error.

A few minutes ago, my computer screen went white and tried to restart itself. I hit the restart button and it opened windows normally, but when I tried to open media player, I got an error saying something like:

The proceedure entry point SetUnhandledExceptionFilter***HeapAlloc could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

I managed to get into IE first, but now cannot open a new window. I don't think there are any EXE's I can open. I really hope there is something I can do other than having to backup my files onto a share folder and format my hard drive.

Please respond quickly if you can. I have a feeling if I try to restart my computer, it's gonna crash.

 

This won't be very assuring, and not much help either, but I would back up whatever you can ASAP if you don't think the PC will survive a reboot. After a backup (CD/DVD/shared drive or folder/external USB drive/whatever), try a system restore to the most recent restore point that isn't today; like yesterday or the day before. Hopefully that will help, if not fix the problem. A repair install of Windows may be needed also. It's been my experience that Kernel32 errors are not a good thing Hopefully someone else will post some more useful information; but in the meantime, back up the important stuff just in case!
