OK, here one for the books... A friend of mine asked me to take a look at his PC which had Windows ME which I know is a crap OS. There were about 12 things that were getting loaded at boot up time. I went into start->run->msconfig->startup and un-clicked the chick box but the apply button never came out of the gray which would not let me remove them.
Has any one come across this before or would know what I would need to do in order remove them at start up time.
    Thanks...

Msconfig is more a troubleshooting tool for startup issues, you may remove some startups with this or block them but MSconfig also when , so if you need to remove its best to do this on a perminent basis and CCleaner is good for this, just install > Run > click Tools > Startups and remove which ones you dont need.

Just be careful as to what you remove as you need to keep Security apps in the startups.
