Default OS problem with Imac

I'm a Mac newbie, with that out of the way I have procured this Imac it has OS 10.3 on it, it works perfectly. Now for the problem, like most PC's it has a password on the root/administrative acount I can't get into because well they wern't nice enough to leave it on the case. I have found two ways to reset this password one being through apple, S and typing things into the command line, and the second being an OS 10.3 disk. I bought two other G4's and one came with these disks, I did fresh installs on both of those and everything went flawlessly, I even found where I needed to be. I then put the disk in my Imac and held down C and waited, it just spits the disk out. But if I wait till it boots and try the disk it reads it without problem. Any ideas?

The disk you have may be a system specific boot disk, meaning it only boots a certain type of Mac. You probably need to purchase a new copy of OS X so that you can get a CD/DVD that will boot any Macintosh computer. It would be a wise idea to upgrade to Tiger (10.4) anyway since the next OS X is soon to be released (10.5).

Or borrow one from a friend who has a similar iMac.

Nope, apparently the problem was cheap media. The disk it was burned to was substandard, I turned it into an ISO and burned it to another disk and it booted right up. All is well with my apple world.
Thanks for the help.

For the record, non apple keyboards can also cause this issue.
