Default Gaming Headset Recommendations?

My wifes and my own computer sit side by side on the same table. We can use posterboard to block the view of each others screen but sound is a big problem in games like RTS's where stealth is very important. We're looking for some headsets to wear while playing these titles. Other than when we play against each other we won't be wearing them. Anybody have any recommendations?

Since we'll be playing games like Supreme Commander and Dawn of War, the sound quality is important. They must have a mic and the ear phones must cover the entire ear. The standard walkman/cdplayer headphones that just rest on the ear or earbud headphones are not acceptable. Recommendations would be most appreciated

I have an eDimensional AudioFX headset and love it. They run for around $40. If you want 5.1 surround sound you could get a Medusa headset, but they're more around $120.

If not constrained by a budget I have a pair of sennheiser pc160 gaming headphones. Simply awesome, espcially when you consider Sennheiser are one of the best headphone designers and makers. They are also very comfortable if wearing for a long period time. The 3d sound imagery is absolutley spot on, and the mic I have been told by my clan mates sound really clear with no distortion or "wind" type noises.

Ahh, been so long since I posted here!

Anyway, I did a big look into this when I was going competitive with my FEAR game, and I checked the available prices and options...

Here is the one I use,

http://www.steelseries.com/products/...sb/information

I SWEAR by my Headset, I get ppl always calling me a hacker because I can hear ppl coming from around the other side of the map, footsteps are HIGHLY amplified. But it seems your more of an RTS player, so...

SennHeiser makes some of the best audio equipment in thr Bizz,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106328

Also, check out TcS's Thread about Basic Gameplay, he mentions many good Headsets and the audio equipment to run them (Soundcards).

http://centralslayers.net/forum/inde...ed&topic=112.0

Dont forget to get a decent sound card to compliment your headies!

Wavy
