Service changes: now, pipe state is invalid

Here's a case of knowing enough to be dangerous.

I disbled some services on my friend's computer (Vista OS) and now she is constantly getting "pipe state is invalid" messages. I've tried to go back into services - same message, tried msconfig - same message, tried it through a DOS prompt - same message, tried to get online - won't go. She tried to go back to a restore point before we made any changes and that still didn't work.

HELP! This lady is popping nerve pills now.
