Excessive Speed loss when Virus software is down loaded Can You Help???

I Purchased PC Cillan anti varus software for 3 of my PC's. I loaded both of my new Note Books and they run great with no issues at all. When I loaded it on my 3 year old Dell desk top with Windows XP it slowed it down terribly, we had this same problem when loaded Notron on it last year. My question is do you have any ideas what I might do or check to see what's causing the sever slow down. This computer is 3 years old but it run really fast when the virus software wasn't loaded but once I load virus software on it runs terribly slow.

 

Run the Norton Removal Tool below to make sure the Norton product was completely uninstalled. See if that helps.
